Quality and ecology at the Hotel**** Orso Grigio in San Candido!
During our holidays we all search for...the ideal place to stay, relax, beautiful weather, cordiality, fun and – obviously – genuine and good food.
The Hotel**** Orso Grigio of San Candido offers the best to its guests, without to forget to protect the environment.
For this reason it supports regional economic activity and gives priority to organic and biodynamic products. Therefore the guests of the Hotel**** Orso Grigio will find:
- smoked ham (Speck) and cold meats from local livestock, prepared by the „Biobeef“ abattoir in Toblach
- beef from a local producer, “Schneiderhof” in Sexten
- diary products from the Upper Pustertal Diary ( Hochpustertal Sennerei)
- cheese from local producers, “Lechnerhof” in Prags and Ahrntal
- bread from an organic farmer, Bernard Feichter in Toblach
- biodynamic wines from South Tyrol (Alois Lageder, Weingut Manicor) and Austria (Heinrich Gernot, - Nikolaihof, Josef Umathum, Hans und Anita Nitnaus, Weingut Fritsch)
- grappa from Vinschgau
- once a week we prepare a dinner consisting predominantly of organic ingredients
As these products are locally produced by small enterprises, they are not always available regularly or in the quantities we require them. Therefore we can not depend entirely on them and have to fall back on wholesale distributors. You surely know about this problem should you also be aware of the value of healthy nutrition at home.
The resources are used in an economical way and wherever it is possible, renewable energy is used.
Warm water is being produced from the solar heating system on the roof. Heating radiators fed by the biological mass heating plant Toblach/Innichen heat the hotels ambients. Water taps fitted with flow reducers.
The hotel does its best to relieve pressure on the environment.
Collection and disposal of waste is done separately: cans, glass, paper, cardboard, organic waste. Ecologically compatible cleaning substances are used : chlorine free washing powder and ecologically - approved products for the cleaning of kitchens, floors, and bathrooms. The bathroom linen are changed only at the guests request.
